Skills
& Expertise
Teaching and Curriculum Design: taught and designed classes for various age groups including 9-11, jr high, high school, and adults. Teaching has focused on religious faith (Christian Theology, Church History, Intro to the Episcopal Church), history (including Ancient Near Eastern history, Medieval European history, and Colonial American history), Intro to Philosophy, and Western Art History.
Games and Simulations: designed and used a wide range of games (including board games, social deduction games, and role-playing games) along with other forms of classroom simulation to teach about topics including village life among the 18th century Shawnee,
generational dynamics of medieval European dynasties, and church politics in Pauline Corinth. Also once taught a class called ‘Dungeons & Dragons & History & Literature’ which spent a year exploring 14th century England, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, medieval magic and folklore, and monster fighting.
Art & Design: produced illustration and design content for a range of educational and religious organizations. Work primarily in watercolor and/or digital mediums.
Ex-vangelical Ministry: extensive experience working with individuals transitioning away from evangelical Christianity and towards more deeply historical and liturgically-rooted understandings of Christian faith. Help churches better understand how to welcome and meet the needs of those emerging from the (often spiritually traumatizing) world of fundamentalist/evangelical theology.
Evangelism, Formation, and Communications: worked with Episcopal congregations of varying sizes and diocese who are developing new ways of being the church in our time. Firmly committed to the idea that evangelism and formation are intertwined tasks—a vibrant church requires skilled storytelling and theological education across a range of creative media.
